Beauty Buzz: The Must-Try (have) Products of the Moment: Lots O' Lipsticks! Yay!

What's on the minds of the beauty community right now? The answers to this question changes  on a day to day basis and its hard for anyone to keep up! Luckily, you don't have to. I am willing to take one for the team and do the dirty work for you. I may or may not have tried each of these products yet so there will not be a review for each one, just short description unless I have tried it. Reviews will soon follow. I've included some photos of my own as well as YouTube videos from those that have used the products and have an opinion already of them. This way you don't have to wait around for me, although I hope you will because mine will be better. So what is everyone trying to get their hands on lately!? Here's the scoop!

Mac Sheen Supreme Lipsticks:
To replace the beloved Mac Slimshines, discontinued much to everyone's dismay, Mac has released a permanent line of replacements called the Sheen Supreme. A little backstory: Slimshines were a very glossy, moisturizing sheer lipstick-gloss that came in a skinny, shiny, and sleek black tube. I loved those black tubes because they reminded me of lipsticks from when I was a little girl. Don't ask me why, they just do. The most coveted of the slimshines? The shade: Bare. I know people that bought like 10 of them when they heard they were being discontinued. And while I don't think the shade was THAT irreplaceable or un-dupe-able, I do miss it. And so its with great pleasure that Mac presents "Bare Again." The shade created to make Bare Slimeshine lovers less bitter. Personally, I am quite intrigued by Supremely Confident which is a sheer and very pale nude shade as well as the token blue-toned cool pink in "Behave Yourself." Unfortunately, and like a huge loser, I have none of these as of yet but have included a video from someone who does have them and can provide fantastic swatches. Trust me, I will get them, but I'm saving for a greater cause. You'll see at the end of the post.

Essie Topless and Barefoot:
Some say the perfect nude. I say that depends on your perception of "nude". Nude is a highly subjective shade  these days. You have your concealer nudes, your tan nudes, your orangey nudes, pink tunes, the list goes on and on. Personally, I'm a concealer-nude fan. This is the nude that is pretty void of any invading alternate shade and is a basic fleshy tone. And I hesitate to use "fleshy", because its another subjective term. What color flesh? Tan flesh? Pale flesh? Olive flesh? You'll see. It's in the recently released Essie collection, French Affair. And if you're lucky enough to have a Walgreens or CVS near you, Essie is now creeping into the drugstores which I'm quite happy about. French Affair is yet another pretty, wearable, Essie collection of soft spring pastels and nudes. And Topless and Barefoot fits right in with its soft nude beige and slight pink undertone. Love.
Kat Von D Lipstick Celebutard:
Funny name. A very pretty milky-pink no-shimmer matte lipstick. Matte can most often be synonymous with "drying". Formulas such as these can really accentuate lip imperfections unless your lips are perfectly exfoliated and moisturized at all times. I feel like if it would have had just slightly more moisture, it would have been good to go and more of a no-fuss lipstick. All is not lost though because any sheer gloss could soften the dryness right up and make it a great lipstick. But not for everyone. And by everyone, I mean those with dark or tanned skin. I tend to think that pastel, matte, and shimmer-free shades like this one makes darker girls look freakish and porn-star-esque. That's not always a bad thing, but in this case, it kind of is. See below for what I'm talking about.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) Lip Tars:
I jumped on this bandwagon a little late. So that means you guys are really late. This is not a product for everyone. It's for those that want a super-industrial strength lip product that will not budge under any conditions. Even the conditions were you want it to budge. The product comes in lipgloss squeeze tubes. Seemingly innocent. After all, this packaging usually signifies your standard shiny lip gloss with fun fruity flavors. Don't judge a lipstick book by its cover. This stuff is no joke and nothing to be taken lightly. It goes on like a lipstick but dries like and mimics a lip stain. I tried it the other day in the shade Harlot for the first time and then ate two pieces of extremely greasy pizza. Now, this type of activity always breaks up whatever lip product I have on my lips and after I'm finished eating, my lip color is a distant memory. Not this stuff. Didn't even fade. I am almost positive that this stuff could be used to pave roads. And if you start to notice bright pink highways, then it has been. When OCC named this product Lip TAR, they weren't kidding. Not one bit. The lip tar comes in a gazillion bold and vibrant shades. Including the likes of blues, greens, yellows, and black. The coolest part of this product is that you can mix shades with varying amounts of the other colors (namely the black or white) and create your own shades. So fun. Available online at a very modest price $13.50. http://www.obsessivecompulsivecosmetics.com/

Look how amazingly vibrant these shades are! So fun!
BB Cream:
What's BB Cream?! I get asked this with the exact exclamation whenever I ask someone if they've heard of it. Well, unless you're a regular on the YouTube makeup guru circuit, you probably wouldn't have heard of it yet. It's a Japanese product that is supposed to act as a sunscreen, moisturizer, foundation, acne medication, and also include anti-aging properties. Wow. That is a very ambitious claim. But its funny, when you tell an American woman that the product is of any type of Asian descent, they're all over it. I've heard through the guru grapevine that the best BB cream is called Nanoce BB Moist Cream. It comes in two shades which is basically light or medium and is SPF 30. My shade is No.1 Natural Ocre which may be a shade too light for me but fine if you mix it with a tad of something darker or just spruce up the vampy-ness with bronzer. I am around an NW 22 in Mac for reference. The front of the box says "natural moisturizing cover cream, for all skin types." The back of the box says jkeje90f998$$%^^$$#((*(*&Fjkdkkdkd. Or something like that. Its entirely in Japanese so to me, this is basically the same thing. You get 1.4 ounces which is kind of small for the price tag of around $30 depending where you find it. And its not a solid 1.4 ounces. When I would squeeze the tube to dispense the product, I could feel that there was a lot of empty space in there. Not cool, Nonoce, not cool. This is not a tightly packed with product kind of product. My thoughts in a nutshell? I like it. It goes on a little thick and opaque so you'd think it wasn't easy to spread but it is. And it isn't as full-coverage as it may appear when you put it on before blending. With a dense kabuki brush it blends effortlessly. In my opinion its a light-medium coverage and wouldn't work as enough of a moisturizer to forget your moisturizer. Its too early to tell about its acne medication and anti-aging claims but I'm certainly willing to keep using it in order to agree with or reject the validity of their claims. It smells decent. Kind of like a baby lotion but not powdery exactly. There are several brands of this stuff available so if one brand doesn't do it for you then you can't quite reject the entire BB Cream empire, you just may have to try another one.

Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick: Boy
A tribute to the legacy that is Coco Chanel, Chanel introduces this hydrating and shine-inducing lip color. The most sought after shade? Boy. Named after Arthur "Boy" Capel, one of Coco's great loves. He wanted to marry her but she wanted to wait until he was financially secure, ie, she aint messin with no broke.... Sadly though, Capel's death came before their financial freedom. Being the whore-bag that she was, she recovered and found another man(s) to shack up with and fund her business endeavors. Take what I say with a grain of salt though. My words have no malice, just joking around. But she was totally a gold-digging professional mistress and thinly veiled prostitute. With a mission. But mission more than accomplished so I can't hate. Boy lipstick is a mauve toned pink and perfectly wearable for all skin tones. I've heard that it isn't very long lasting but I usually don't expect this quality in a super high-end lipstick because I've been let down too many times. In a Chanel lipstick, I expect great packaging and a nice fragrance. Its icing on the cake that the shade is great and gives shine and hydration. Must try! Will try! Will report back!

What's Coming Up?! It's Quite Cute!

New Mac collection, "Quite Cute" on April 7th. SO excited for this one. There will be all new lipsticks, plushglass glosses, blush, nail polish + more, with the exception of Saint Germain lipstick which is a repromote. I love Mac Plushglass so I'm super excited. But if you missed it during the last release of it, you're in luck! As for the collection's theme, think of a 5 year old little girls birthday party. I take that back. Think of a 5 year old little girls birthday party whose parents have no set budget. Complete with a Merry-go-round and pony rides, while keeping in mind the Spring fashion and color trends. Roll it all into one and you have one and you have one excited beauty maniac who is purposely NOT buying every Mac Supreme Sheen lipstick for the sake of saving my extra $$ for the Quite Cute collection. Supreme Sheens are permanent, Quite Cute is Limited Edition. Its a no-brainer. Plus, there are names like Bubble Tea, Fashion Fanatic, and Candy Yum-Yum. Enough said. Circle it on your calenders.
Dude. Enough Said.

Even if the blush was the color of vomit, if you stick a heart in the middle, you're golden.
